Shannon
Henry is a staff writer and columnist for The Washington Post,
where she covers technology for the Business section. She writes
"The Download" column on Thursdays and "Digital
Capital" every other Monday, in addition to covering local
Washington technology companies and culture. She also hosts a live
web discussion every other Thursday on washingtonpost.com.
Before joining the Business section
of The Post, Henry co-founded The Washington Post Company's
TechCapital, a bi-monthly magazine covering technology business
and finance, where she served as editor. Before that, Henry was
the telecommunications and Internet reporter for Washington
Technology newspaper. Henry has also written for daily financial
services newspaper American Banker, where she covered banking
policy. She grew up in the Maryland suburbs and has a bachelor's
degree in English from Boston University ('91). Henry earned a
master's degree in Journalism and Public Affairs from American
University ('93) during which she interned and wrote for The
Christian Science Monitor. She has also worked for National Public
Radio as a marketing assistant and photographer. Henry is married
and lives in Washington D.C.
